The Legacy charity operates a multi-purpose facility in Croydon, designed to give local young people the opportunity to discover their potential. The charity gives young people aged 8 to 19 and young people up to the age of 25 with additional needs the chance to participate in a variety of activities, reflecting their passions and needs.

The charity’s youth workers are on hand to inspire young people to lead healthy, positive lives and raise their aspirations to become caring, happy and responsible citizens with more to offer themselves and their families, as well as their employers and the wider community.

Opportunities for All

Legacy Youth Zone aims to be a hub where young people can be themselves in a safe, fun and engaging environment. The centre offers more than 20 different activities on the weekend and after school and is committed to ensuring that no young person encounters barriers due to their family income or the area they come from.

There are three clubs on offer that young people can choose to join for a small annual membership fee: Inclusion Club (for those aged 8 to 25), Junior Club (for ages 8 to 12), and Senior Club (for ages 13 to 19). All members have access to the centre’s 3G kick pitch, indoor climbing wall, music room with recording studio, sports hall, boxing gym, training kitchen, dance and drama studio, enterprise suite and many more facilities.

Community Fundraising

Legacy runs regular fundraising activities to raise money and awareness, such as the Abseil Community Day which took place on 25th June 2023. Participants, such as local entrepreneur Mario Carrozzo, had the opportunity to abseil 18 metres down the side of the Legacy Youth Zone building in Croydon.

Fundraising Ideas Legacy Youth Zone’s website offers a variety of ideas for fundraising activities, such as bake sales, coffee mornings, film nights, raffles, jewellery making, quiz evenings, indoor skydiving, karaoke events, pancake races and Easter parties. Those interested in raising money for the centre could also consider participating in Legacy’s annual Leg it for Legacy event, which challenges individuals to walk 10,000 steps a day for a month. The charity also holds a Green Day, with the idea being to encourage everyone in a school or workplace to wear green for a day in exchange for a donation to Legacy Youth Zone.
